Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct of St. Berchmans College serves as a guiding framework for all members of our academic community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors. It is designed to promote an environment that fosters respect, integrity, and inclusivity. By adhering to this code, we aim to cultivate a culture of learning, collaboration, and personal growth. The following passage outlines the fundamental principles and expectations set forth in our Code of Conduct:

Respect for Others: We value and respect the diversity of our college community. We expect all members to treat one another with dignity, fairness, and courtesy, regardless of differences in backgrounds, beliefs, or identities. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any form of disrespectful behavior is strictly prohibited.

Academic Integrity: Honesty and academic integrity lie at the core of our educational mission. Students are expected to uphold the highest standards of intellectual honesty, giving proper credit to the ideas, work, and contributions of others. Plagiarism, cheating, fabrication, or any other form of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated.

Personal Responsibility: We encourage all members to take responsibility for their actions and choices. This includes being punctual, attending classes regularly, completing assignments on time, and actively participating in academic and extracurricular activities. It also involves respecting the property, facilities, and resources of the college.

Ethical Behavior: Our college community is committed to upholding ethical standards in all aspects of campus life. We expect individuals to engage in ethical conduct both inside and outside the classroom. This encompasses being truthful, maintaining confidentiality when appropriate, and adhering to professional and ethical standards within specific fields of study.

Safety and Well-being: The safety and well-being of every individual within our college community are of utmost importance. We strive to create a secure environment by adhering to safety guidelines, promoting mental and physical health, and offering support services. Any actions that endanger the safety or well-being of others will be taken seriously.

Responsible Use of Resources: We value the resources provided by our college and expect everyone to use them responsibly. This includes technology, library materials, equipment, and other facilities. Misuse, theft, or intentional damage to college property is strictly prohibited.

Compliance with Policies and Laws: All members of our college community must abide by local, state, and federal laws, as well as college policies and regulations. Violations of such laws or policies may result in disciplinary action, which can include warnings, probation, suspension, or even expulsion, depending on the severity of the offense.

By embracing and upholding these principles, we collectively contribute to the vibrant and inclusive community we aspire to be. The Code of Conduct serves as a reminder of our shared responsibilities and the values that guide our college’s mission. It is through our commitment to these principles that we can create an environment conducive to learning, personal growth, and mutual respect.
